TOP OF THE AGENDA | My colleagues fired on hungry Palestinians, claims Gaza aid contractor |
| | The GHF began its operations in Gaza at the end of May, distributing limited aid from several sites in southern and central Gaza Credit: Reuters | A former security contractor for Gaza's controversial new Israel- and US-backed aid distribution sites has told the BBC that he witnessed colleagues opening fire on hungry Palestinians who posed no threat, including with machine guns. He described one occasion when a colleague opened fire because a group of women, children and elderly people were moving too slowly. The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation said the allegations were categorically false. Since the GHF started up in May, Israeli forces have killed more than 400 Palestinians trying to retrieve food aid from its sites, the UN and local doctors say. |

| | | 1,024 new superyachts were built or on order around the world in 2022, a 25% jump from 2021, and a then all-time high, according to figures from Boat International magazine. Credit: Paola Trifirò | Paola Trifirò knows a thing or two about superyachts – she and her husband have owned more than a dozen over the years. She describes their boats, which can be more than 50m (164ft) long, as being like floating five-star hotels. Business reporter Francesca Marchese explores why global sales boomed after the Covid crisis. |

And finally... | Passengers travelling through Thiruvananthapuram airport, in India's southern state of Kerala, have been struck by the unusual sight of a British fighter jet stranded on the tarmac. Since arriving three weeks ago, it has become the butt of jokes that it's up for sale, is gunning for Indian citizenship or - as the local tourism authority suggests - just "doesn't want to leave". Geeta Pandey investigates the curious case of the stuck $110m supersonic jet. | |
