Research Article: “Internet Image Search Outputs Propagate Climate Change Sentiment and Impact Policy Support”

Abstract: “A critical step in tackling climate change involves structural, system-level changes facilitating action. Despite their ubiquity, little is known about how internet search algorithms portray climate change, and how these portrayals impact concern and action. In a sample of 49 countries, we found that nationwide climate concern, but not nation-level climate impact, predicted the emotional arousal caused by climate change Google Image Search outputs.”

Journal Article: “Scholarly Metadata as Trust Signals: Opportunities for Journal Editors”
From the article: In recent years, research integrity issues are in the limelight with the emergence of new and complex threats, such as paper mills, citation cartels, fabricated peer reviews, fake papers, artificial intelligence–generated images, among many others. A worrying feature of these emerging research integrity threats is that they often occur at scale and can affect many journals and articles at the same time. Taken together, this poses a considerable challenge to journal editors and editorial offices, which are key stakeholders in ensuring the integrity of the work they publish.

New from Ithaka S+R: Results from a National Survey of Community College Library and Campus Partners
From the Introduction: Navigating higher education requires more than attending classes and completing assignments; it requires “college fluency,” a set of skills that enables students, faculty, and staff to effectively locate and utilize institutional resources. College fluency can empower students, faculty, and staff to navigate the complex culture and bureaucracy of higher education, supporting students to advocate for themselves as they move through these systems. Libraries play a crucial role in fostering this college fluency by equipping students with the tools and resources for both their curricular and non-curricular needs.
