The number of moving parts in the CIO’s agenda is only increasing. From the pressure to quickly realize value and unforeseen fallout from geopolitics, to cost containment and unearthing the best talent, it’s not a role for the squeamish. Oh, and then there’s AI in all its forms and applications. Finding solutions for it, of course, are happening as fast as new possibilities are emerging.
This weekend’s top story consolidates several key IT leaders on the front lines — some of whom you might know, and some you might actually are — and airs out the complexities, priorities, and hard decisions needed to keep all those parts working together.
With the furious pace of AI in particular, it still essentially comes down to how it can benefit the business. “Shifting from broad experimentation to targeted, ROI-driven initiatives represents a maturation in how organizations approach AI — balancing innovation with sustainable financial practices, and performance with accountability,” says Mike Trkay, CIO at data analytics company FICO.
So IT leaders are steadily acclimating to whiteout conditions and tuning out distractions to see the right path forward.
