Live at 11:30 a.m.: Walz to outline expanded vaccine plan Minnesota has kept vaccine eligibility to people with certain underlying health conditions, as well as those with jobs or living arrangements that put them at highest risk of getting COVID-19. But that changes Tuesday, when the state will expand COVID-19 vaccination to all state residents 16 and older. So far, almost 1.5 million Minnesotans have received at least one dose of vaccine, according to the Minnesota Department of Health. Gov. Minnesota safety patrol takes to the streets to stop Asian hate In response to the growing animosity against Asian Americans, 37-year-old Jonathan Sry started the MN Asian Safety Squad, a community safety patrol group, in February. Then a man killed eight people, six of them Asian women, in a shooting spree around Atlanta, Georgia, on March 16. The group mobilized soon after. “It’s been a year of just anti-Asian attacks, and no one’s started anything yet for this type of service in Minnesota,” Sry said. “So it falls on somebody. The first person to do it is the person who’s now responsible for it.” Minnesota's home insurance premiums have more than tripled in 15 years, largely driven by extreme weather. Since 2000, Minnesota has experienced 23 extreme weather events that caused a billion dollars or more in damage.
