This week has been difficult.

I'm getting tired of COVID and the devastating effect it's had on the world and on my life.

Things have changed.

I don't like change.

In other words: I'm a control freak!

DAD JOKE OF THE WEEK

I told my son Facebook was changing it's name to "Meta".

He asked me, "What's a meta?"

I said, "Nothing. What's the meta with you?"

CARTOON OF THE WEEK

People have often asked me, like on podcast interviews, what cartoons receive the most backlash.

I've noticed that LGBTQIA cartoons, then feminist cartoons, then Bible cartoons, receive the most backlash.

So this one has two of those issues in one.

It was very popular and many people loved.

Some others didn't like it so much.

Is the Bible Triggering For You?

Okay. So this cartoon is about scriptures again.

And, true to form, some people got very upset over me critiquing those who use scripture in insensitive ways.

In fact, I actually had some people respond with a flurry of scripture verses to argue with me.

Those who "got" the cartoon and appreciated did catch the irony and the humor in their responses.

I don't know. Maybe things like this can help such people see past their blind spots.

We're going into 2 years of COVID restrictions.

Being required to distance ourselves from our fellow human beings is difficult for me.

This painting captures that sense of longing and desire and need for proximity with our loved ones.

AM I A CONTROL FREAK?

I've known this for quite a while.

I'm a control freak.

In other words, I don't like change. I find it difficult.

Including in the lives of those I love. I find it very difficult to see my children or wife struggle with change. Sometimes I honestly wish things would just stay the same... stable, secure, safe.

But... that's not life and that's not fair.

It's weird, because I'm always crying for change! I think you know that much about me anyway.

It's that I know change is necessary and inevitable.

It doesn't mean I have to like it.

That deserves a great big LOL.

But, truth be told... I understand human psychology enough to know that my generosity, graciousness, compassion, and patience is the light side of my shadow side of desiring control.

Do you feel this way? Or is it just me?

I think this has EVERYTHING to do with Facebook's announcement this week. This book was rather prophetic, in my opinion.

A FINAL NOTE

Often emails are seen as a tool to grow a business and one's influence.

I might believe that a little bit.

But mostly, it's my way of connecting with you and you connecting with me.

I care about the people who appreciate my work and "follow" it.

So... take this as a personal... "I MEAN THIS!"
