Biography

Amber has loved art and animals from a young age. From having a house full of dogs, cats, birds, and even a sugar glider, to riding horses in her home states of Oklahoma & Kansas. When she won 1st place in a drawing contest in 8th grade, she knew she wanted to become a professional artist. Amber majored in Fine Art at Clemson University concentrating in drawing and painting in 2013.

Amber lives in Bozeman, MT with her husband Alan, German Shorthair Pointer Mavey, and Rhodesian Ridgeback Peachy. When she isn't painting, she enjoys riding horses, hiking with her dogs, dancing, and volunteering at animal shelters. Proficient in oil paint, she utilizes traditional and contemporary painterly techniques. Amber is an associate member of Oil Painters of America, American Women Artists, and a founding member of Cowgirl Artists of America.

Amber's yearning to be around animals never stops and that passion resonates in her paintings. Amber's animal portraits reflect the spirit and personality of the animal using oil paint. She feels it is important to connect emotionally with her subject matter in order to produce the vitality that it deserves.

Artist Statement 2024:

My goal as a Western wildlife artist is to capture the beauty and spirit of each individual animal. I create paintings that not only speak to my soul, but ones that buyers want to look at every time they walk into their home. Sometimes the animals are painted in their natural habitat, and other times with a dark background to enhance the focus on the animal's face and expression. My ability to bring the animal to life lies within my brushwork depicting their eyes and fur. My splatter technique adds a contemporary element and is a part of my signature style. I've heard from viewers and collectors that the splatters remind them of rain, dew from the animal's fur, saliva flinging from their mouths, or a refreshing drink from a stream. Living in Montana, I am blessed to experience these amazing animals in person which inspires me to be the best artist that I can be.

Living in the West has also piqued my interest on Native American tribal horses. I love the meaning behind war paint: The hand symbol meant that the warrior was successful in a hand-to-hand battle. It symbolized 'life' and was perceived to impart energy to the warrior. A circle around the eye was for alert vision, an arrow points in a line which brought victory.
