Hi John,
Are you familiar with Painted Paper?
I was first introduced to the concept in graduate school: A small group of us spent a weekend with a visiting artist, making piles and piles of painted (paste) paper. Paste paper is a slightly different process and I'll share it another day :) Making painted paper is far too easy and I've gotten completely sucked into it. The same may be true for you! 😛
Painted Paper Steps (so easy!)
- Paint all over blank paper with any colors or designs
- Then, use that paper for collage projects, book-binding, etc. (optional step)
If you're into experimenting with art techniques, you may want to give this process a go.
10 ways to make Painted Paper:
- Splatter paint
- Scrape into the paint with forks, bottle caps, butter knives, etc.
- Layer colors
- Printmaking: monoprinting, stamping, gelli plates
- Paint with a variety of strokes
- Paint patterns
- Push and scrape the paint around with a credit card
- Press rubber stamps, cookie cutters, potato mashers, etc.
- Sponge paint
- Crayon resist with watercolor paint
