A Message from Grades of Green

We’re so grateful for the support of our global community who believe in educating and empowering students to take action and lead environmental change. That’s why we want to share an important update about one of our key programs:

Due to recent changes under current Executive Orders, our EPA Environmental Justice Collaborative Problem Solving grant was officially terminated on March 21. This grant has been instrumental in supporting our work at Inglewood Unified School District (IUSD) schools by helping students reduce waste, create greener campuses, and engage through assemblies and after-school programs. The grant was expected to fund these impactful efforts through 2026. For more information, please access our press release here.

While this change is unexpected, our commitment to these students and this community remain as strong as ever. If you share our passion for environmental education and want to support our continued work in Inglewood, we’d love to hear from you. Please reach out to our Executive Director, Kelley Le, at KelleyLe@gradesofgreen.org.

Thank you for standing with us to build a clean and sustainable environment for generations to come.

The Grades of Green Team

Congratulations 2024-2025
SOAR Eco-Innovation Academy Students!

We recently celebrated our SOAR Eco-Innovation Academy students at the third annual Sustain-a-Thon, hosted by Subaru Pacific. With support from our 2024-2025 corporate partners — Northrop Grumman, ECObyRy, West Basin Municipal Water District, ICAN, and Emeco — students had the opportunity to showcase their innovative sustainability plans to industry representatives. Grades of Green partners, board members, students, and their families came together to celebrate the hard work and creativity students have poured into their projects throughout the school year.
The SOAR Eco-Innovation Academy is a collaborative, hands-on program that empowers motivated high school students to learn and lead environmental progress in today’s top industries. Students realize environmental potential by working directly with a variety of businesses and their leaders to learn about sustainability issues and develop real world solutions. With mentorship and guidance, students and businesses will collaborate to develop better environmental standards for industries today and for generations to come.

Are you a high school student who is passionate about sustainability, interested in green careers, or eager to connect with like-minded peers? Look no further than SOAR to create impactful projects towards more sustainable industries!

We’re excited to announce that we’re expanding access and opportunities for more students to participate in the SOAR program with an online virtual option featuring incredible corporate and industry partners! Stay tuned to be among the first to know when recruitment begins for these exciting new opportunities.

Bring Grades of Green to Your School

Looking for a unique and impactful way to inspire the next generation of environmental leaders? We are now offering a select number of schools the opportunity to reserve an environmental assembly from Grades of Green! Our interactive games and presentations empower students with the knowledge and tools to make a real environmental impact. As part of our commitment to giving back, 10% of proceeds from every assembly booked will support communities rebuilding after the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. This is a chance to be part of something bigger!
