| Good evening The death of nine-year-old Jordan Banks will have given many parents and grandparents a shiver of fear. Many of us have sent children off to play or for a sporting event after school and not for one moment considered that they might come to any harm. A combination of an unforecasted storm and a million to one chance ended up in the death of this wonderful little boy and has left most of the country shocked. Jordan was just enjoying football training in the early evening when he was struck by lightning and killed during that unexpected storm. Our thoughts are with his family and friends as they try to cope with what must be an unbearable loss. Jordan was a selfless child who has carried out charity events for a mental health charity, in memory of the uncle he loved. He was generous and kind even at nine. The grief at his passing is palpable, not just in Blackpool, but in Lancashire and across the world. How could something so cruel happen to one so young?
