Another child killed in a shooting. And Gordon Plaza residents score a win.

By Bob Warren

'They took my baby.' Another child has been killed in a shooting. One of the victims in a fatal double shooting in New Orleans Tuesday night was 13 years old. Byron Thomas was a 7th grader at Phyllis Wheatley Elementary School. Sadly, we’ve been down this road too many times.

Toxic: The Gordon Plaza neighborhood in New Orleans was built on what used to be a landfill. A judge this week ruled that 5,000 current and former residents are entitled to more than $75 million for property damage and emotional distress. But even with the judgement, there’s still questions about when – and if – residents will receive any money, Tristan Baurick reports.

Saints get one, lose one: Some news on the Saints front that’s not about Deshaun Watson. The Saints lost a starting safety to free agency – but also gained a new safety to take his spot. Here’s what we know about that. And of course you can track all the free agency comings and goings here.

What's a creole tomato? So here’s a great question that Dan Gill, our gardening guru, asks today: “So, what do we mean when we use the term ‘Creole tomato?’” Check it out here.

Hope you enjoyed today’s Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us. And of course, be sure to check out NOLA.com for more news throughout the day.
