Biography

Born in Chicago, Anthony Pontrello was influenced early in life by his imaginative grandmother who brought artists into their home to paint beautiful trompe l'oeil murals in an Italian style throughout. Mesmerized by these gentlemen who transformed the home into magical gardens, he never forgot those panoramic views of great perception, created using only paint on blank white walls.

Anthony's formal training began in high school as he completed several classes in both drawing and painting. His art education continued through two years of college at Boston University and then as an apprentice to Italian muralist/restoration expert, Gianfranco Soro, in Milano, Italia.

Published in numerous magazines and periodicals such as Architectural Digest, In Style, Redbook, People, In Touch, Romantic Homes, and more. Anthony's work has also been featured on television on the Home and Garden Network ( HGTV) and The Learning Channel (TLC).

Often asked to name his favorite painter, Anthony considers this nearly an impossible question to answer. "I could name at least one hundred painters whose work I admire," he explains. "However I do have a special place for those that have influenced me the most." He names artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Jacques-Laurent Agasse, John Ferneley Snr., Théodore Géricault, Alfred de Dreux, Eugène Fromentin, Rosa Bonheur, Eugène Delacroix, Joan Miró, Wassily Kandinsky and J. M. W. Turner, as all having had a major impact on his art.

Anthony's work currently hangs in private collections in Palm Springs, CA, Los Angeles, CA, San Francisco, CA, Chicago, IL, New York, NY, Austim, TX, Evergreen, CO, Mound, MN, Mantua, OH Seattle, WA, Washington DC, London, England, Paris, FR, El Wafrah, KW, Doha, QA, Milano, IT, Roma, IT, Dubai, AE, and Abu Dhabi, AE.

Anthony Pontrello currently lives and works in Palm Springs, California.
