Good evening
There will be more than a few nervous teenagers this week awaiting the results of their A levels and GCSEs. Of course, these are not normal times and for the second year, thanks to Covid, no exams have been taken and results will be based on teacher assessments. For many this is a fairer system - you have to put the effort in year-round rather than cram a lot of facts into your head at the last minute and then hope for the best. Exams do, however, help to prepare people for some of the pressure-cooker situations they will face in work and in life and give employers a benchmark which should apply across the country. This year will also be different in that both A level and GCSE exam results will be available in one week - tomorrow and Thursday. At least that means in households with young people waiting for both, it will all be over with in a few days. Those unhappy with their results should take a deep breath. Sometimes out of a seeming disaster, something much better can appear. Believe in yourselves and you can achieve your dreams.
