Apogee Rocketry Workshop #285:

How to Fix a Broken Rail Button

Advanced Construction VideoI had a rail button pull out of a 4-inch diameter rocket. The reason was that the screw really wasn't attached well into the paper tube. There was nothing behind the screw to hold it in place. What I was left with was a hole in the rocket once it popped out.

How do you fix this so that the rail button is permanently installed? That is what I'll show you in this video.

Simple Timer for Staging

SimpleTimer

The Apogee
SimpleTimer for Staging
has been designed for timing applications in model rocketry. Its intended use is to start the sustainer motor of a two-stage rocket. It allows you to perform spectacular flights that excite any crowd at the launch range.

To assure launch safety, its built-in logic prevents ignition of the upper stage if the rocket goes unstable or is tilted more than 45° from vertical at the time of ignition of the upper stage. This prevents the upper stage from flying on an unsafe trajectory. It is perfect for high-power rockets!

Semroc Taurus

Semroc TaurusThe Semroc Taurus is an updated version of the classic Centuri kit that first appeared in 1972. It was advertised as an Alien Planetary Cruiser. It has all the classic components of a throw-back rocket kit, like a four balsa wood nose cones, two balsa transtion sections, a lot of tubes, water-slide decals, and a lot of body tubes. If you paint it up in the Taurian Admiralty's fleet colors, this is an attractive model that will gather a lot of attention at your next launch.

Semroc USS America

Semroc USS AmericaWhat a way to celebrate Independance Day with the launch of the USS America. This reproduction of the Centuri model rocket from 1976 is sure to be a successful highlight at your next launch. With two side pods and simulated jet engines slung beneath the wings, the model is as distinctive as it is powerful. Flies on 24mm diameter D, E and F size model rocket motors.

I need help with generating the bi-weekly newsletter articles since it takes a lot of effort to put them together. And I'm willing to pay big bucks for your help.

So ask yourself, are you looking to earn some extra money?

I'm now actively seeking writers for articles to appear in this newsletter. And I want unique and cutting-edge articles because that is what you want to read, right? I realize this, so to get articles from outside writers that have the same level of quality, I'm going to have to pay a lot of cash to make it worth it for them. So I've come up with a compensation package where I'll pay up to $350 for good how-to articles.

Are you a writer, and does that interest you? That is a lot of cash! Far more than you'll get by writing for other magazines. And with over 23,000 worldwide subscribers, if you write for the Peak-of-Flight Newsletter, you'll gain a lot of notoriety. Writing for the Peak-of-Flight Newsletter is a great way to show off your rocketry projects and your technical expertise, at the same time as helping out other rocketeers. Imagine how great you'll feel knowing that you made a difference to the hobby.
