[ Not displaying correctly? View web version. ] | Apogee Rocketry Workshop #382: | Some rocket kits have both a Kevlar shock cord and an elastic (or rubber) cord. The reason for this is to get some of the advantages of each material. You get the heat resistance and durability from the Kevlar cord when it is needed most - where it is attached by the engine mount. And then you get the shock absorbtion capabilities from the elastic cord. But it is important that the Kevlar cord doesn't project out of the tube, or there is a higher chance of getting a zippered tube. In this video, we'll cover the process of installing the Kevlar shock chord and how to keep its length inside the tube. You'll also see how to attach the elastic cord to the loop on the Kevlar cord that is now inside of the tube. | "May the Fourth Be With You" Star Wars Day (May 4th) is only two days away, so we thought it would be fun to imagine and celebrate a little early. Our simulation is of the new Wayfarer rocket, launched at a most appropriate place: Skywalker Ranch. As you see in the simulation, there is a nice grassy area on the ranch for our launch site. And since the Wayfarer is a great small-field rocket, we stayed clear of that grove of trees to the east. Note: We didn't even need Yoda's help to keep it out of the trees. Want to see the Wayfarer decked out in Star Wars themed decor? Be sure see our upcoming social media post on May 4. We're already having lots of fun with this great new rocket. |
Customer Testimonials: “Well one day I was cleaning out my closet and found two rockets I used to launch over twenty years ago and got "re-bit" by the rocket bug! So I started watching some rocket videos and saw an ad for Apogee Components and went to the website and could not believe the amount of rockets and related products! So I called them and I am glad I did. They are very friendly and the service is great! And also their shipping is lightning fast! I would recommend Apogee to new and seasoned rocketeers as well! Thanks Apogee for being such a great company!” -- David E. Frisbie | |

I'm now actively seeking writers for articles to appear in this newsletter. And I want unique and cutting-edge articles because that is what you want to read, right? I realize this, so to get articles from outside writers that have the same level of quality, I'm going to have to pay a lot of cash to make it worth it for them. So I've come up with a compensation package where I'll pay up to $350 for good how-to articles. Are you a writer, and does that interest you? That is a lot of cash! Far more than you'll get by writing for other magazines. And with over 23,000 worldwide subscribers, if you write for the Peak-of-Flight Newsletter, you'll gain a lot of notoriety. Writing for the Peak-of-Flight Newsletter is a great way to show off your rocketry projects and your technical expertise, at the same time as helping out other rocketeers.
