Microsoft backtracks on its most controversial AI feature

 

The AI-powered Recall is coming to Copilot+ PCs, but with some changes designed to improve privacy

 

Microsoft’s recently announced Recall tool that supercharges search on your computer by taking screenshots caused such a stir among privacy advocates that the company has said it will make changes to the feature, Digital Trends reported.

For example, you’ll now have to opt in to use Recall instead of opting out. Additionally, biometric "Windows Hello" security will be required to enable Recall, and Recall data can only be viewed by you, once your presence has been detected.

The tool will also deploy “just in time” decryption for your Recall database, as well as an encrypted search index ...

Apple's WWDC event kicks off today, with AI sure to headline

 

Highly anticipated keynote is expected to see Apple reveal plans to deeply integrate AI into many of its apps and features

 

Expect lots of AI-related announcements during Apple’s keynote on the first day of its annual developer event.

The tech giant is sure to reveal AI features for the iPhone, iPad, and possibly its Mac computers and Apple Watch. Recent rumors suggest we could see additions such as photo retouching (removing unwanted objects), voice memo transcriptions, suggested replies in emails and messages, auto-generated custom emojis based on message content, notification and text summarization, AI-generated Apple Music playlists, and plenty more, Digital Trends reported.

Sonos Ace review: These headphones are almost as awesome as we’d hoped

 

The Sonos Ace impress on many levels, though there a few drawbacks to consider, too

 

Digital Trends’ hands-on review of Sonos’ new Ace headphones hailed them as “a stunning achievement,” but also found them to be “something of a disappointment.”

High points include the headphones’ excellent design and comfort, intuitive tactile controls, and “very good” sound quality,” while the downsides include a lack of full Sonos system integration, no Wi-Fi streaming, and an Audio Swap feature that “feels like it still needs some polish.”

Box Office: Bad Boys 4 rides to $56 million in opening weekend

 

The strong showing suggests audiences haven’t turned their back on Will Smith after he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars in 2022

 

Sony’s Bad Boys: Ride or Die achieved a strong debut and led the weekend box office with $56 million from 3,885 theaters across North America, Variety reported. The buddy-cop movie also took in $48.6 million internationally, bringing its global earnings to $104.6 million.

The Garfield Movie took second spot with $10 million in domestic ticket sales in its third weekend in theaters, while the kids film IF, on its fourth weekend, came third with $8 million. Plenty of exciting updates were shared at Microsoft's latest Xbox event on Sunday

 

The latest Xbox Games Showcase revealed that Xbox has a lot of neat-looking games coming later this year and into 2025, Digital Trends reported.

Highlights include known games such as Avowed and Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, as well as newly announced titles like Doom: The Dark Ages and Gears of War: E-Day.
