The iPhone 16 faces some big challenges, prominent analyst claims | Apple's next handset isn’t expected to arrive until the fall, but a prominent analyst has claimed it will face some major challenges
| Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared a few tidbits about the upcoming iPhone 16 series on Tuesday, and none of it sounds good. According to Kuo, Apple has reportedly lowered its 2024 iPhone shipments — including the existing iPhone 15 series and the iPhone 16 later in the year — to 200 million units. That’s still a lot of iPhones, but it’s a decrease of 15% year-over-year compared to 2023. Kuo notes, “Apple may have the most significant decline among the major global mobile phone brands in 2024.” He puts it down to several challenges, including competition from high-end folding phones with an increasing number of AI tools and “continued decline in shipments in the Chinese market” ... | |

YouTube TV is finally fixing the biggest problem with multiview | YouTube TV is going to let you choose which games you have on-screen with its multiple-channel multiview feature | Multiview — the feature by which you can watch multiple channels at once — has been particularly important for YouTube TV, the most popular live TV service in the U.S. YouTube TV just finished its first season as the new home of NFL Sunday Ticket, which, by all accounts, was a pretty major success. Japan finally phasing out floppy disk | It's been a while coming, but the government is slowly making moves to get rid of the outdated storage medium | Despite its reputation for cutting-edge tech, many businesses in Japan continue to cling to their beloved fax machines, and in some government departments the floppy disk is even something of a favorite. But things are (slowly) changing, it seems. Japan’s Minister of Digital Affairs, Taro Kono, declared war on floppy disks in 2022 after he discovered that about 1,900 government procedures still involved businesses having to use floppies to submit information. But in recent days, at least one department – the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry – revealed that it's finally starting to ditch the disk, having now changed 34 ordinances that end their requirement.
