Apple is hoping to one-up Meta with its own smart glasses

The reported plan is to bring the Vision Pro’s ability to understand its surroundings to more products, such as new AR smart specs

Apple’s Vision Pro team is working on a pair of smart glasses to take on a resurgent Meta following its recent unveiling of a prototype of fully holographic augmented reality smart glasses, according to a Bloomberg report on Sunday.

Apple's smart glasses might not arrive until 2027 at the earliest as the tech giant works to gain greater value from the billions of dollars that it invested in creating the Vision Pro, which some believe will remain a niche product.

The team at Apple is also believed to be working on a lower-end Vision Pro headset for launch possibly next year, with a second-generation Vision Pro with a faster chip coming in 2026 ...

MOBILE

We just got our first peek at Xiaomi’s upcoming smartwatch

The Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro will be able to track vital metrics at a fraction of the cost of an Apple Watch

Renders purporting to show Xiaomi’s Smart Band 9 Pro have just dropped, and it looks gorgeous, Digital Trends reported.

The display on the new device looks a bit curvier than the one on the Smart Band 8 Pro, and there are also changes to the clasp, as well as to the appearance of the housing, which looks slightly more matte. We also see three colors for the bands: white, black, and pink. Remember that the renders might not be accurate, and details regarding these smartwatches could change before release.

The Smart Band 9 Pro could retail for around $100. It’s not clear when Xiaomi’s new smartwatch will launch, but considering the Xiaomi Band 9 came out in August, we may not have long to wait ...

Terrifier 3 scares its way to weekend box office glory

Pretty impressive for a movie that only cost $2 million to make

As expected, Terrifier 3 emerged victorious on its first weekend at the box office in North America, raking in $18.3 million — a little more than the best forecasts for the slasher. It’s a big win for the independently made horror about a demonic clown who brutalizes a small town.

“The blood-soaked threequel, which doesn’t have a rating by the Motion Picture Association, has been stoking conversation about violence, with the distributors at Cineverse launching a hotline for moviegoers to complain about the carnage,” Variety reported.

Meanwhile, Joker: Folie á Deux slipped from first place to third with just $7.1 million in earnings, with animation The Wild Robot slotting into second place with a take of $13.5 million ...
