| | Deal Case: Aqua Capital | Biotrop As part of LAVCA’s Eighth Annual ESG Deal Awards, Aqua Capital received the 2022 Environmental Responsibility Award for its investment in Biotrop. Aqua Capital created agricultural biologicals platform Biotrop in 2018 and merged it with inoculants producer Total Biotecnología. Biotrop provides innovative solutions to enhance agricultural productivity through low-cost, high-ROI, biological-based products such as inoculants, biostimulants and biopesticides which replace the use of harmful chemicals and avoid GHG emissions. Since Aqua’s investment, the platform’s EBITDA has grown at a CAGR of 51.2%, international sales have increased 4x, and the company has launched 24 new products. In three years, the company has reduced the use of chemical fertilizers by over 23,000 tons, which represents a reduction of at least 83,100 tons in CO2 emissions – the equivalent of planting 581,000 trees. LAVCA Venture Capital Insights LAVCA Director of Venture Capital Carlos Ramos de la Vega recently delivered inaugural remarks, outlining the current "State of Venture Capital in Latin America" in a timely presentation at the VC LatAm Summit in Miami, FL.
