Agentic AI. Agentic is the ugliest buzzword I’ve heard in a long time. It rolls off the tongue like a brick. In addition to sounding like a small sneeze, agentic may also be inaccurate. That’s because what everyone is calling an agent is just a bot dressed up for the ball. Or maybe two apps cuddling. The gist of my conversation with Christopher Penn and Paul Roetzer focused on why agents aren’t anything new.

One other thing, could you take a few minutes to answer the 2025 State of Your Stack Survey? We appreciate your help.

What they're saying

  • “We’re still in the relatively early days of CTV, and more ad-supported streaming options won’t completely mitigate an increase in engagement costs as advertiser adoption rises. That doesn’t mean you have to launch campaigns right now. However, it raises the stakes for getting ready to use CTV as soon as it’s viable for your business.” Sean Nowlin in 2025 is the year for B2B brands to embrace CTV.
  • “Too many marketing strategies focus on influencing individuals rather than building relationships across entire organizations. Similarly, sales teams often lack the visibility they need to understand the full picture of account engagement and end up chasing the wrong individual simply because they ended up in a list from marketing.” Eric Dates in How the Salesforce Lead Object broke B2B marketing (and how to fix it).
