Dear John,
Do you have a hero? Chances are, you do. And I’ll bet that your hero doesn’t wear a bodysuit and a cape. Here’s another question: Are you a hero? There’s a better than good chance that you are, especially if you’re a dad. A few weeks ago, we were privileged to host Dr. Meg Meeker on The Ziglar Show, Episode 466 for an inspiring discussion about fathers as heroes. It’s no secret to anyone who knows me that Dad was — and still is — my hero. That’s pretty easy for anyone who knew Zig Ziglar to understand, given his larger-than-life persona and all that he stood for. But the reality is that, whether you know it or not, if you're a dad, you’re a hero. Even if you're struggling with all the demands of fatherhood, Dr. Meeker reassures us that every man has it within him to be the hero father his children need. If you haven’t had a chance to hear this episode of The Ziglar Show, I encourage you to click over and listen and share now. You can also listen on iTunes or Stitcher. And ladies, it’s a worthwhile listen for you, too — some of the suggestions Dr. Meeker makes really can be applied to both parents! Nobody can deny a mom’s critical role in her children’s lives; in this broadcast, Dr. Meeker simply asks us to look again at how we, as a society, tend to view dads as somehow less important, and asks us how we can change that dangerous thinking. You were Born to Win, so go ahead and Live to Win, Tom PS - Quote of the Day: “All it requires is that you be a man, a real man, which means a man of courage, perseverance, and integrity. You were made a man for a reason. You were made a man to be a strong, loving husband and father. So listen to your instincts, and do what’s right. Be a hero.” — Dr. Meg Meeker |
