‍PLUS: Stronger ankles and July reads

JULY 9, 2025

Good morning, reader.

One of the nice things about working here at InsideHook is that our staff is made up of lots of young people, many of whom are women. So their social media feeds are very different from mine, and I occasionally get to learn about viral things that otherwise wouldn’t have been on my radar but still feel at least somewhat relevant to the average middle-aged dude.

Case in point, Joanne Sommer just went deep on a trend that’s all over TikTok at the moment, where women are debating whether certain behaviors by men should be considered “princess treatment” or “the bare minimum.” Filling up your girlfriend’s gas? Paying for it? Opening a car door? Not using 2-in-1 shampoo?

Only you (she) can decide.
