I’m thrilled to invite you to the Ethical Dilemma Cafe in Manchester, UK on April 26 - 27.
The Ethical Dilemma Cafe is a cafe…with a catch. Visitors are offered free coffee in exchange for accepting a set of terms & conditions, consenting to have their personal data tracked in the café. In other words, it’s a real life experiment on data consent and privacy. The Ethical Dilemma Cafe features three zones: â The Cafe, where you can hangout, drink complimentary coffee, and explore installations designed to show you how your online data materializes as your online persona, one you might not recognise.
ð¨ The Gallery, where we will host short conversations and discussions in a series of curated topics designed to raise important issues we face online today, name the barriers that obstruct alternative data infrastructures, and highlight the privilege many of us experience, whether through location, race or language.
𧰠The Workshop, comprised of a series of sessions designed to rebuild and regain control of our data, our online experiences and our digital ID.
Are you ready to let your data take you on a journey? Learn how your data defines you? Glean a perspective you might not have seen before? If your data were making the decisions, in what direction would it lead you? Would it take you to Manchester? [hint: say, “yes!”]

Tech Event of the Year: MozFest 2022  |
Mozilla Festival 2022 was an incredible experience. The first half of the week brought our community together in exciting ways. The second half of the week hosted social moments that took us by storm and inspired us in ways we didn’t expect. But the final day really took our breath away. From the newly imagined Science Fair, to a unique Zine Exhibition, to a Studio-style closing circle…WOW. If you missed the live event, great news! This year, MozFest is offering on-demand tickets to access recorded sessions and live Fringe Events through June 25. MozFest Audio - Listen to the Latest Let's Get Litical Podcast. Can biometric identities protect refugees? This episode features two Mozilla Festival 2022 Wranglers from the Digital ID & Privacy Space: Cybelle Oliveria, a board member of Casa Hacker and community member of Mozilla, and Lewis Munyi, a passionate software developer who builds developer communities fostering the growth of the African developer ecosystem.
- Introducing Once Upon a Tech: Voices at MozFest. Co-hosts and long-time MozFesters Kim Wilkens and Sarah Fitzhenry invite you to listen in to personal stories of positive change in tech as they create a living record of the enthusiasm and drive for progress that activists bring to MozFest.
