Ali Wong LIVE from Netflix's "Hard Knock Wife", "Baby Cobra" and Random House - FRIDAY NIGHT ONLY ONE SHOW! ONE SHOW ONLY! Ali Wong is a stand-up comic from San Francisco, now living in Los Angeles. Her first Netflix stand-up special BABY COBRA was filmed when she was 7 months pregnant. Elle applauded it as a "comic genius gem" while Vogue called it "The special that everyone is talking about." Emily Nussbaum hailed it as "funny and refreshingly rude." The day before its premiere, Wong's interview with Marc Maron on his podcast WTF was released. He called the special "the most honest, rawest, funniest special I've seen in years."
On September 11, 2016, Wong spoke and walked the runway during New York Fashion Week for Opening Ceremony's show. She has also joined the cast of Kate Spade's "Miss Adventure" films.

Austin's most adventurous band, The Invincible Czars, bring their new tastefully modern score for the 1922 German silent film Nosferatu (1922 F.W. Murnau) to select cities in the South, Midwest and East Coast (and of course all over Texas) this fall - including several double feature performances with the 1925 American film The Phantom of the Opera.Nosferatu is one of the most revered films in the history of cinema. It is most certainly as the most important horror film of the silent era and one of the first vampire movies - though it was almost completely lost when the estate of Bram Stoker sued the filmmakers for copyright infringement and most of the prints of the movie were destroyed.

Drafthouse Comedy Level 1 Sketch Writing and Live Audience Performance
Sketch Comedy has been the cornerstone for comedy creativity for many years, including Late Night talk shows, SNL, Monty Python, MadTV, and more. Join us for our Level 1 Sketch Writing course with veteran Stephen Hale. Students will get stage time to perform their material in front of a live audience at Drafthouse Comedy in DC and/or the Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse. Additionally, willing students can form in house troops and perform along national headliners as they continue to develop their skills. Time to get your creative comic juices flowing.
This course in an introduction to sketch comedy, writing short comedic scenes, rehearsing and working towards building a show that the students will perform in. Each week students will explore different sketch formats and be asked, each week, to bring in a new sketch based on a specific format. The goal of Drafthouse Comedy Level 1 Sketch Writing is to push students to not be afraid to fail in their writing, make big choices and take risks. Finding your own voice through the guidance and support of your teacher is what we strive to have you achieve. The course will run for 8 total weeks. 5 weeks of writing, discussing and collaborating on new material. 2 weeks of rehearsing and exploring chosen sketches for the show and the final show, which will be held on the last day (8th week) of class. No prior sketch writing experience is necessary - the only requirement for this class is a desire to write, perform and learn. Students should be prepared to work outside of class, writing new sketches, for the first 5 weeks of class. Class Size: Max of 10 Students. Mondays 7pm - 9:30pm: Next Class: October 8th
