Hello my friends! We are very happy to make this announcement! We have been waiting for this for a long time and have finally found the perfect instructor - Poane'!
(Rhymes with Monet!) Poane' has agreed to do two "paint parties" in April for us at the Art Room! We'll be playing with acrylics. The first will be on Wednesday, April 6th from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. and then another on Tuesday evening, April 19th from 5:30 till 8:30 p.m. Class fee for either class is $ 40.00. I can promise you a LOT of fun and creativity! Just wear some old clothes and bring some old rags and a great big smile! Be ready for an awesome time! And go home with a great painting! We'll have some snacks and drinks to enjoy, too... Please preregister and prepay, thanks!

A natural creative talent, and self-taught painter, Poané began as a stylist and designer in the high-fashion world of NYC in the 1970s. His artistic process resulted in a successful career as an event and portrait photographer, shooting for publications such as Atlanta and Jezebel magazines, and photographing events such as the Emmy, Trumpet, and Essence Awards.
Poané has photographed various celebrities including Ted Turner, Desmond Tutu, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Shaquille O’Neal, and many others. His creative evolution led him to paint portraits of many of the celebrities he had photographed, and then into painting landscapes, abstracts, and reproductions of famous artists.
After realizing his dream and relocating to an artist community in rural North Carolina last year, Poané is finally able to focus on his true passion, creating original and commissioned work in oils and acrylics.
