State lawmakers want a comprehensive, independent review of Gov. Tim Walz’s COVID-19 decisions over the past year. But that likely won’t happen.

The state legislative auditor says he’s got too much going on, too many other pressing projects that his office won’t be able to conduct a comprehensive review.

It’s been a goal of Abdulaziz Mohamed’s to hold leadership roles since he was little — when he watched Barack Obama become the first Black president of the United States.

“Knowing that Minneapolis has the largest Somali population outside of the country of Somalia itself," Mohamed said. "I really see representation in leadership positions being a pivotal role in bringing a diverse set of perspectives and opinions in rooms that don’t have folks that look like me being represented. I was really honored and I am so looking forward to a lot of the stuff we can get done.”
