HSE's investigation found that the companies involved had: failed to carry out an asbestos refurbishment and demolition survey of the property, which would have identified the asbestos not properly assessed the work and failed to prevent the worker being exposed to asbestos Read the full press release: Companies fined after 16-year-old worker exposed to asbestos If your employees carry out licensable work with asbestos, you must ensure they are under medical surveillance by a doctor appointed by HSE If you need an appointed doctor, you can search HSEâs online list of appointed doctors in your area. When you have an appointed doctor, you should ask for a copy of their certificate of appointment which contains an expiry date. You should ensure it is in date and check periodically that it remains in date while the appointed doctor is conducting medical surveillance of your employees. Further details on appointed doctors can be found on HSEâs website. |
