Vietnam's Foreign Investment Trends

Private Equity, Energy Transition, Infrastructure, Venture Capital & IPOs

This latest publication by Asia Investment Research provides comprehensive data on energy transition, infrastructure, and capital flows concerning foreign direct investment (FDI) into Vietnam. Our research gives readers detailed insights and targeted instances of bottom-up analysis.

We focus on Vietnam’s near-term activities, challenges, opportunities, and outlook, as well as longer term growth plans beyond 2025 and relevant trends. This is essential reading for rating agencies, corporates, institutional investors and governments — and includes information that may not be readily available from major investment banks and other sources.

This issue of AIR's Vietnam research has been written to focus on near term gains that Vietnam has accomplished over the past two years and targets over the coming two years. While we address longer term growth plans post 2025 as well, we focus on Vietnam’s near-term activities, challenges, opportunities, and outlook.

The report is designed to provide detailed data, in places from bottom-up analysis, on energy transition and infrastructure as well as capital flows in FDI (and including below/outside of official FDI), Private Equity (PE) and Venture Capital (VC), to readers already familiar with Vietnam. Our specific focus is on governments, rating agencies, corporates, and institutional investors – specifically on information they cannot obtain from major investment banks or rating agencies.

In general, the findings illustrate a very positive set of results and outlook. There are still challenges ahead, such as in completing major long term infrastructure projects, further developing its financial markets, and the challenge of raising US$135 billion to fund an energy transition from coal and hydro to renewables by 2030, but Vietnam - based on its recent track record - is well positioned to achieve many of these goals.

High inflation and interest rates, along with currency fluctuations are all making it expensive and risky for businesses to expand into markets overseas. In this issue of Vietnam Briefing Magazine we look at the cost-effective ways firms can sell their goods and services in Vietnam without opening a local office.
