NATIONAL: In an effort to bring back in-person conferences and business meetings, Marriott plans to offer on-site COVID-19 tests, starting this month at the chain’s Gaylord Hotels and Resorts in Florida, Tennessee, Texas, and Colorado. Marriott will roll out the measures to additional hotels in the coming weeks. On Jan. 12, Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa will headline the official opening night party of CES. At the virtual gathering hosted by MediaLink and iHeartMedia, Ryan Seacrest will interview Lipa, followed by a performance from Eilish. CES organizers hope to draw roughly 150,000 people to the trade show's first virtual edition, which runs Jan. 11-14. FORT WORTH, TEXAS: The Fort Worth Convention Center and the Will Rogers Memorial Center have received GBAC STAR facility accreditation. In addition, 18 Public Events Department employees received a GBAC trained-technician certification, meaning they have been trained to respond to a biohazard crisis in the workplace. MEMPHIS: The 227-room Hyatt Centric Beale Street Memphis, slated to open in March, has appointed Sarah Titus as general manager and Nicholas Janysek as director of sales, marketing, and events. The hotel will offer 9,000 square feet of event space. KEY WEST, FLA: Casa Marina Key West, a Waldorf Astoria Resort, celebrated its 100th anniversary of New Year’s Eve. To mark the occasion, the historic property hosted a silent auction Dec. 31 to benefit the Key West Art & Historical Society, as well as reservation-only dining and a fireworks display.
