The front page of The Canberra Times on this day in 1963 described a fight between two rival groups, the "Surfies" and "Rockers" and a spoiled youth dance. The "City Stomp Dance" organiser, Leo Heimburger, accused "Rockers" of intentionally ruining the dance held at the YWCA hall, which he ended early at 10pm due to brawls.
