| | Going back to school is always one of the most anticipated times of the year. We look forward to opening our schedules, seeing our friends we missed during the summer break, and meeting new people in classes, through sports, and by joining new clubs. While it’s easy to get caught up in all of the excitement this time of year brings, it’s also important to have a conversation with your children about internet safety. At the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), we want to encourage our communities to come together to keep kids safer online this school year.
Online safety education is crucial for adolescent and teen students as well as their families. As such, we have refreshed our presentations for parents, middle school, and high school students, offering invaluable insights into cultivating a secure and positive online experience.
These updates include the latest best practices that promote: - Social and Emotional Skills
- Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking
- Coping Skills, Resiliency, and Seeking Help
- Bystander/Upstander Engagement
We invite you to embrace these updated resources and integrate them into your curriculum, family dialogues, and community events. Collaboratively, we can pave the way for a safer digital landscape for our children.
