With more positive tests, Maine continues gradually shutting down

  • Mainers are running into a problem: There aren’t enough tests available for all who seek them.
  • Rockland is latest Maine city to declare state of emergency amid the coronavirus outbreak joining Augusta, Bangor, Biddeford, Portland, Waterville, Winthrop and Westbrook. 
  • The Downtown Bangor Partnership sent out a list Tuesday morning of Bangor restaurants — including those not in downtown — that are offering limited-contact or contact-free menus for the near future.
  • The Maine Maple Producers Association announced Monday that all events should be postponed for Maine Maple Sunday Weekend, which was scheduled for March 21 and 22. 
  • However, the state’s network of federally funded family-planning services is ensuring that women who can’t make an in-office visit will not see an interruption in their birth control prescriptions.
New Bangor factory starts making toilet paper just in the nick of time

  • Gov. Janet Mills on Tuesday signed an order prohibiting sale of certain items at “unconscionable prices” during the coronavirus outbreak including paper products, cleaning supplies, hand sanitizers, personal hygiene products, medicine and medical supplies, food and water.
