Good evening,

Good evening,

Forget the federal budget, today was all about Barrenjoey Capital Partners. The country's newest investment bank launched its long-awaited raid on UBS this morning, snaring some of the Swiss bank's top investment bankers and a slew of its equity sales operatives.

Senior bankers Jarrod Key, Barry Sharkey and Peter Nelson all jumped ship, as did trading kingpin George Kanaan.

Tonight, we take a dive into Barrenjoey's first hiring wave and there's a warning for UBS' local leadership: a second — and maybe even a third — round is coming.

Meanwhile, this column revealed Saracen Mineral Holdings and Northern Star Resources' $16 billion merger this morning and we're back this evening with the inside story on how the deal got done.

Finally, online tradie marketplace Hipages is expected to follow Adore Beauty's lead for its IPO and there's something hanging over Freedom Foods as it tries to secure a recapitalisation.

Happy reading,

Sarah Thompson, Anthony Macdonald and Tim Boyd.
