Unconditional Basic Income Europe BASIC INCOME TEA Cash-for-Corona in Spain – 10 May |
Join us for a UBI tea talk on the Corona-response in Spain this Sunday! |
We hope you managed to watch last Sunday the second edition of "Basic Income Tea" – our new weekly one-hour online talk series with guests from all over Europe on subjects related to the Corona crisis and UBI. The discussion with Jamie Cooke, Cleo Goodman, Erin Hill, and Maggie Gordon-Walker gave us very interesting insights how the UBI movement in the UK organised a strong campaign in response to the Corona crisis. If you missed it, make sure you watch the recording here. This Sunday, 10 May at 5pm CEST in our "Cash-for-Corona in Spain" edition, we will have the pleasure to learn about all of this in more detail from Isabel Franco and Julen Bollain. Isabel is a member of the Spanish Parliament for Podemos, and been a key advocate of basic income in Spain during the popular legislative initiative campaign for basic income. Julen is an economist and board member of Red Renta Básica, the Spanish network for Basic Income. Register here to join the discussion with them! We will look at the Spanish state's response to the Corona-crisis. In particular, we'll discuss the policy package announced in the past weeks, the Minimum Living Income, which has been falsely reported as the "introduction of basic income" in several international media outlets. So we will focus on the conceptual and practical differences between this policy proposal and an unconditional basic income, as well as take a wider outlook on the UBI debate in Spain and its political challenges. |
Want to meet other basic income advocates, share your thoughts via live chat, and be able to put your questions to our guests? Then please register here until Saturday, 9 May, so we can send you the connection details for the video conferencing tool (Zoom)! If you just want to listen and enjoy, you can also watch the live stream on the UBIE website and on our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube) starting Sunday, 10 May, 5 pm CEST. |
Looking forward to see you, Leire Rincón Chair of UBIE |
