Thanks to all who joined, last Sunday, the first edition of "Basic Income Tea" – our new weekly one-hour online talk series with guests from all over Europe on subjects related to the Corona crisis and UBI.

We had a great discussion with Stanislas Jourdan and Francois Denuit about the EU institutions' reactions and policy packages in response to the epidemic. If you missed it, make sure you check out the recording here.

This Sunday, 3 May at 5pm CEST in our "Spotlight UK" edition, Barb Jacobson, coordinator of Basic Income UK will be joined by Jamie Cooke, RSA Scotland; Cleo Goodman of the new Basic Income Conversation and Citizens Basic Income Scotland; Erin Hill, Local Councillor (Labour) in Kirklees and UBI Lab Kirlees; Maggie Gordon-Walker, Basic Income South East and Mothers Uncovered. The basic income movement in the UK has been successful in winning political support for not only an emergency UBI but an ongoing one during this crisis. Two change.org petitions gathered over 250k signatures each, a petition to Parliament for emergency UBI won the 100k needed to trigger a debate within a week, 110 cross-party politicians signed a letter last week calling for a recovery UBI to be made permanent. What happened there? What direction do people see the movement going in the future? Are there lessons for UBI movements in other places?
