We’ll be curating standout InfoDocket posts and nonfiction LJ book reviews once every month for quick access to news and reviews you can use. | Report: “The Hunt for Wikipedia’s Disinformation Moles” From WIRED: Some researchers believe that Wikipedia could be an overlooked venue for information warfare, and they have been developing technologies and methods similar to the ones used on Facebook and Twitter to uncover it. A team from the UK-based Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD) and the Centre for the Analysis of Social Media (CASM Technology) published a paper today exploring how to uncover disinformation on Wikipedia. They also believe that the data mapping may have uncovered a strategy that states could use to introduce disinformation. The trick, they say, is playing the long and subtle game. | EPA Releases 2021 Data Collected Under Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program On October 17, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released 2021 greenhouse gas (GHG) data collected under the EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP). There has been an overall long-term decreasing trend in industry GHG emissions since 2011, primarily driven by a decrease in emissions from power plants. In 2021, reported emissions from large industrial sources were approximately 4% higher than in 2020, reflecting an increase in economic activity following the economic slowdown and decrease in emissions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. | Access to Knowledge Coalition Launches New Website From the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA): As part of a global group of organizations committed to promoting access to knowledge at the World Intellectual Property Organization and beyond, IFLA encourages the library field to engage with a new website which shares key resources and data for advocacy and awareness-raising. | UC San Diego Geisel Library Completes Renovation Project From SDNews.com: The UC San Diego Geisel Library held a Sept. 27 “reveal” of its second-floor renovation updating the flagship building of the university to fulfill the 21st-century needs of its patrons.
