| All-American. National champion. Media star. Trailblazer. Now, professional basketball player. The Angel Reese era at LSU is over. Reese on Wednesday revealed her decision to forego a third season with the Tigers (and fifth overall, she played her first two at Maryland). Reese announced her decision in a couple of ways, including with this video, which ends with the words "Bayou Barbie out." In my column, I say that in the entire history of LSU basketball, men's or women's, Reese stands alone among its greatest players. In case you're wondering, there was no announcement from Hailey Van Lith as to what her plans are for next season as her WNBA draft deadline came and went late Wednesday night. She could return, turn pro or even re-enter the transfer portal. Angel or HVL or no, controvery continues to follow this LSU women's basketball team. Wednesday, Gov. Jeff Landry went on Fox to critique LSU's absence during the national anthem before Monday's regional final against Iowa. He suggests Louisiana college athletes could lose their scholarships if they don't come out for the anthem. I think the governor and LSU's other critics miss the mark and I'll tell you why. Last note on women's basketball: While LSU came up short of the Final Four, coach Kim Mulkey still pocketed a nice bonus for reaching the Elite Eight. With this latest controversy, though, I'm kind of wondering if it's worth it. Spring football is still in full swing, and Wilson Alexander tells us how defensive end Paris Shand is using unorthodox techniques to improve his game. LSU baseball is trying to get back on a winning track this weekend with another super-challenging SEC series against Vanderbilt.
