BUSINESS LUNCHEON ON THE TOPIC OF BREXIT WITH GILES LEVER, BRITISH AMBASSADOR TO VIETNAM On the 22nd June, H. E. Giles Lever, British Ambassador to Vietnam delivered a speech on “Brexit and the implications for the relationship with Vietnam” and answered questions at a lunch attended by more than 40 BBGV members. The speech was very timely, coming immediately after the UK election, The Queen’s Speech and the initiation of the negotiations with the EU. Giles covered many aspects of Brexit including the ultimate need for new trade agreements. In reference to Vietnam, Giles said that the successful implementation of the EU Free Trade Agreement was still of significant importance to the UK. Giles commented that talks with the Vietnamese Government remained very positive and he did not foresee any significant change in that approach occurring.
