CHRYS NGWA SHARES HIS EXPERIENCE WITH CANCER
This month, we hear from Chrys Ngwa, a husband, father, colleague, advocate, and one of the most thoughtful voices we’ve had the privilege to hear. Diagnosed at 51 with metastatic prostate cancer, Chrys’s world was turned upside down overnight. But with access to research-driven treatments, he’s still here six years later - living, reflecting, and giving back by sharing his own experience with others just beginning their cancer journey. 'Cancer may be a piece of my story, but it doesn’t define me. I have discovered new passions, found new joys, and I remain dedicated to creating fresh memories. I will continue to live, to advocate, and to cherish every breath. After all, none of us knows how many tomorrows we have left. We can only make sure that today counts.' – Chrys Ngwa Chrys reminds us that cancer is never just a medical experience, it's emotional, social, and deeply human. And through your generosity, people like Chrys are not only living longer but living fully. 🌐 Read Chrys's Story Here 🌐
LUNG CANCER RESEARCH EXPLAINED THROUGH MUSIC
Thanks to the Musgrave PhD Scholarship in association with Breakthrough Cancer Research, your donations are powering innovative research like that of Clodagh Murphy, who is studying how lung cancer develops and how we might stop it. Here she uses music as a metaphor to explain her research. Just like a 100-piece orchestra, our lungs rely on a single conductor to keep things in tune. But when too many 'conductors' take over, chaos replaces order. Clodagh is helping restore harmony and hope. 🎥 Watch The Video Here🎥
🔆 STAY SUNSMART THIS SUMMER 🔆
Skin cancer is the most common cancer in Ireland, but it’s also one of the most preventable. Sunscreen is our last line of defence but with so much choice it can be confusing knowing which one to use. A few simple tips can go a long way: ✅ Choose SPF 30+ for protection from UVB - these are the rays that burn and increase cancer risk ✅ Look for 4 or 5 stars on the label for UVA protection - these are the rays that age skin ✅ Reapply often – no matter the brand No sunscreen offers 100% protection from UV radiation - it should be used alongside clothing and shade.
