During the month of Elul, we reflect on the year in preparation for the High Holy Days. Amidst the upheaval of the past year, many of us have considered the introspective questions that Jewish tradition calls on us to ask: Am I becoming the person I want to be? Am I doing the work that I want to do? Am I bringing meaning and goodness to others? Where am I falling short? As I ponder these questions, I think about my work leading the Forward.
At the Forward, I have been so proud of our fiercely independent Jewish journalism in 5781. Our journalists worked around-the-clock — covering a global pandemic, a historic election, a national reckoning on race, and rising antisemitism. Throughout it all, we published more than ever, keeping you informed and connected with breaking news, first-person narratives, community-focused stories, and virtual conversations with leading experts.
