Hi Achternaam, How’s your week going? As the days get chillier, we start longing for those warm, comforting meals! And with canning, you can put those meals in jars on your shelf so they’re ready anytime, without much warning (and without waiting for something to thaw from the freezer, yay). For example… Beef Stew for Canning This hearty beef stew includes potatoes, carrots, celery, and onions. Great to have the shelf for cold winter days! Get the recipe for canning beef stew here. And About Canning Veggies… As the growing season winds down, you might be able to snag a few late-season harvests from the garden or local farmer before the frost arrives. This is a good page to reference if you’re wanting to can the harvests. Learn about the best veggies for canning & how to can them here. Pear Butter in a Slow Cooker I love making fruit butter in my crockpot. I cook it overnight and wake up to a sweet-smelling kitchen in the morning. One warning if you use a crockpot overnight. Be sure your crock doesn’t cook high enough to scorch the butter. My crock just doesn’t seem to cook low enough. Learn how to make homemade pear butter here! Have a great day, Sharon |
