Coffee and Cape Town: A Love Story It is a well-known fact that most people need a good cup of coffee in the morning to help them transform from a Walking Dead extra into a somewhat functional human being. Whether you‘re a hipster skating to a freelance gig or a corporate heading to the office, a flat white or espresso is usually in hand. So, in honour of this life-giving brew, we’ve dedicated this week’s newsletter, which you are probably reading whilst sipping on a mug of the good stuff, to all things coffee (fear not: there are plenty of non-java related gems peppered throughout as well). Unsurprisingly, coffee culture is thriving in Cape Town. A new brew haunt seems to pop up in the Mother City as often as Kim Kardashian appears in the tabloids and lures both the hip and not-so-hip with an irresistible combination: superior beans and free Wi-fi. Not to mention, a coffee date is the go-to idea for everything from catching up with friends to meeting up with that person who you swiped right on on Tinder. But while a cuppa can be used as an accessory for the cool crowd or a reliable suggestion for casual meet-ups, there are the budding and veteran connoisseurs amongst us who take cappuccinos, lattes and the like rather seriously; therefore, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to delve into how to make the most of your coffee-drinking experience. Believe it or not, there’s an art behind brewing coffee, and some cups contain intricate flavours and aromas that you can train yourself to experience. For, as Hollywood icon Jackie Chan once said, “Coffee is a language in itself”. Finally, if all this talk of caffeine has given you an unwanted head rush, just give our newsletter a quick squiz, and we’re sure you will find something that is more your, er, cup of tea? And of course, to keep getting excited about all that’s on, follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, follow us on Google+ ,connect with us on LinkedIn, check out our photos on Instagram and follow our Pinterest boards! --- Competition Winner: Congratulations to Anita Coe, Mitch Prinsloo, Jo-anne Johnson, Izidine Pinto and Stefan Kruger!
