PICKS OF THE WEEK Landmark Smokehouse It’s hard not to drive through the intersection of W. 117th Street and Clifton Avenue on the border of Cleveland and Lakewood and not ask, what’s that awesome smell? The answer is always Landmark Smokehouse, the corner restaurant serving some of the best barbecue in town. Both Landmark and its sister establishment Twist Social Club serve classic barbecue, from smoked brisket to pork ribs. Landmark offers the staples like meat with cornbread, mac and cheese or coleslaw, but that’s just the beginning. Sharables like the Bao Swirl Buns with pork belly or the BBQ Bruschetta are the kinds of dishes that everyone at the table will be happy that someone ordered. Plus, Landmark has a mean bourbon list. SPOTLIGHT West Side Market secures $28 million in tax credits Cleveland Public Market Corporation, which operates the West Side Market, is wrapping up the financial package to begin the $53 million first phase of the market’s planned $68 million transformation. CPMC just closed on a $28 million package of tax credits, the largest ever issued by Cleveland Development Advisors, an economic development affiliate of the Greater Cleveland Partnership.
