Greetings Colleague,
We are excited to announce that over the next month, we are piloting an innovative new IDG platform that will enable us to crowdsource predictions and sentiments around key issues affecting our industry.
Instead of relying primarily on our IDG analysts to conduct research, we are looking for ways to involve more of you directly. We understand that you are on the front lines of developing the technologies and services that will impact our future. This project is an attempt to capture ground truth of whats really going on out there to create an entirely new resource you will be able to take advantage of: your own collective intelligence.
The concept of crowdsourced predictions is simple: we will ask questions, and wed like you to respond in the form of a probability and rationale for your prediction. You can update your forecast at any time based on new information you have about the question. When the answer is known, we will judge the question and collectively and individually well begin to understand how accurate we are in our predictions and where we may be exhibiting biases one way or another. This ongoing feedback should make us all better predictors of the future.
Once you have completed registration, you can immediately start making predictions. For this short pilot, we will publish new questions every few days, which you will receive an email about. At the end of the pilot (July 12) we will send a brief summary of what transpired the past few weeks.
I look forward to interacting with you on our prediction site and seeing how we do. Good luck!
