Recreation redux: Over the years, Jefferson Parish has touted its network of playgrounds. But as the population ages, there are fewer children in some places and some once-bustling playgrounds have seen dramatically less participation in their sports programs. The parish government says now is the time to “reimagine” those playgrounds, Blake Paterson reports. 'Moving forward': New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell said this morning she is "moving foward" to reimburse the city for first-class airfare for some trips she took this summer on city business. The mayor's comments came a few days after her chief administrative officer said he would enforce the city's travel policy, which would require the mayor to reimburse taxpayers for part of her travel. Billionaires: A ranking of 778 might not sound all that impressive. Unless, of course, it’s a ranking of the world’s richest people. Forbes is out with its newest billionaires list and estimates the net worth of of Gayle Benson, the owner of the Saints, Pelicans and all manner of other things, at $3.8 billion – good for 778th place on the list, Kasey Bubnash reports. Check out the list to see if any of your friends are on it . . . Going after the consent decree: Safe to say that Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry and New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell don't see eye to eye on a lot of political issues. One thing they agree on? Neither is a fan of the federal consent decree under which the New Orleans Police Department operates. Landry penned this column. (And here's some background from Cantrell on the consent decree.) Icon(ic) return: As icons go, the neon root beer mugs of Frostops across America are particularly recognizable. Our dining writer Ian McNulty has a nice story today about the return of the big mug outside the Frostop restaurant in LaPlace, where it had waved customers off Airline Highway for decades until taking a powder during Hurricane Ida last year.
