Great news, Voornaam! Governor Kate Brown just signed House Bill 3291, meaning that starting next year, Oregon will accept ballots that are postmarked by Election Day! This is great news for increasing voter access and participation, and this change will bring Oregon in line with at least 17 other states that allow ballots to count if they're postmarked by Election Day. It also means no more confusion about when you can put your ballot into a mailbox in time for it to arrive at an elections office by Election Day. Now, so long as you drop your ballot in your mailbox by Election Day and it is received no later than seven days after an election, it will be accepted. Even as Republicans across the country are pushing what's been described as "a tidal wave of voter suppression legislation," Oregon Democrats are fighting back and working to increase voter participation. Will you donate to help elect Oregon Democrats up and down the ballot?
Oregon has long been a leader in making it easier for people to vote: Oregon was the first state to adopt universal vote-by-mail, and we've been running our elections that way for more than 20 years Oregon was the first state to adopt automatic voter registration in 2015 In 2020, Oregon added pre-paid postage on all Oregon ballot return envelopesAnd now that Governor Kate Brown has signed this bill, every Oregon mailbox is a ballot box all the way up to Election Day. Together, we can keep making one of the most progressive voting systems in the country even better. Donate to the Democratic Party of Oregon today.
Thank you, â Oregon Dems Voter Team
