💻 Ross Ulbricht

While Others Go Free, Ross Ulbricht Faces Excessive Prison Time
By Peter McCormack

Ross William Ulbricht is an American inmate serving life imprisonment for creating and operating the infamous and anonymous dark-net market website Silk Road, one of the first Bitcoin marketplaces — but also an e-commerce site that facilitated the sale of narcotics and other illegal products.

Five Examples Of Bitcoin's Real-World Utility
By Trent Dudenhoeffer

Developed countries have had a harder time digesting bitcoin's value proposition as people often want to see its utility in some alternative method, failing to understand that bitcoin is simply money. Being a monetary asset implies that it has specific properties such as store of value, divisibility, availability, etc. But what does bitcoin have that other fiat currencies and gold doesn't and can now be appreciated by both developed and developing countries?

  • Censorship-Resistant Money: Meaning, governments can't "turn off" your money, as it has happened in protests.
  • Extreme Mobility: With just a seed phrase, you can take your money anywhere, allowing you to move easily to friendlier jurisdictions.
  • Helps Energy Grid: Instead of consuming all the world's energy, it becomes an incentive to over-produce affordable renewable energy.
  • 24/7: In bitcoin, there are no holidays or weekends.
  • Internet Native: Bitcoin is internet native, and with second layers, such as the Lightning Network, it allows freedom of transactions and novel value-for-value business models.
