The Majority Of Bitcoin Mining Is Fueled By Sustainable Energy

According to new research, Bitcoin mining is largely powered by sustainable energy, despite a 2022 Cambridge Centre For Alternative Finance’s study claiming that only 37.6% of Bitcoin's energy usage was sustainable.

The new research suggests that the actual sustainable energy usage is at least 52.6% of Bitcoin mining’s total energy use.

This information is significant for ESG investors who are on track to reach $10.5 trillion in the U.S. alone. The research, which quantifies the impact of several factors, including off-grid mining and flare-gas mining, indicates that Bitcoin is quantifiably a net positive to the environment and society.
