Mastercard And Binance To Offer Bitcoin, Crypto Card In Brazil By BtcCasey Mastercard and Binance have launched a Bitcoin and cryptocurrency-backed prepaid card in Brazil, Latin America's largest economy. The Binance Card is in beta testing and is expected to be widely available in Brazil in the near future. The card allows new and existing Binance users with a valid national ID to pay bills and make purchases with cryptocurrencies at Mastercard merchants. It charges a 0.9% transaction fee for Bitcoin transactions and offers 8% cashback on select purchases, with no fees for ATM withdrawals. The launch is part of Binance's effort to bridge the gap between traditional finance and cryptocurrency, with Brazil being one of Binance's top 10 markets. An estimated 10 million Brazilians, out of a population of 214 million, use cryptocurrencies. The solution is not, of course, as a free-access platform that does not require government ID, but it does bring the ability to use bitcoin to pay for goods to millions of people. |
