Show your local Black-owned businesses some love |
| | Say hello to Black Pound Day | We’re all about championing the people, the businesses and the communities that make London such an incredible city. And that’s just one of the reasons why we’ve teamed up with Google to give a little shout out to Black Pound Day – a movement that encourages people to buy products and services from Black-owned businesses. You can read the entire edition here, and check out the full Black Pound Day directory here. Black Pound Day kicked off in June this year and takes place the first Saturday of each month. But its aims go beyond promoting change for just one day a month – it’s about creating an opportunity for people to support these businesses in the longer term, too. To give you a bit of inspiration on how to get involved and where to spend, we’ve partnered with Google to create a hub dedicated to some of the Black-owned businesses we love. Here you’ll find interviews, practical tips on how to show your support (even – and especially – during lockdown!), write-ups on our favourite venues and shops, and well, to be quite honest with you, a hell of a lot more. And from now until the end of the year, we’ll be handing over our Instagram to some awesome Black-owned businesses in London. The first of our Time Out takeovers starts next week, with Walthamstow café Dudley’s. Let’s make this coming Black Pound Day something every Londoner can be proud of. | |
