When Ann Tannenbaum and her late husband Tom Lee purchased their East Hampton oceanfront estate from Lee Radziwill following the death of her estranged husband Hollywood director Herbert Ross, their plan was to renovate the existing shingle style house. They soon found the structure needed more work than originally anticipated, and instead took it down to the studs, proceeding to build a new one to the exact specifications of Radziwill’s dream home.
In 2013, the home was destroyed during a devastating fire, and the couple embarked on iteration 3.0—this time larger and more modern, but with no less charm than the original.
The 3.6-acre, 14,000-square foot property, originally purchased for $16.2 million in 2001, has now hit the market for $120 million. Despite the hefty price tag, many Hamptons real estate watchers predict it may not be available for long. “This combination of provenance and location are hard to beat,” said one. |
